Staff

Pastor, Matthew French
Pastor Matthew came to our church in 2007. Prior to that he served on staff at the Rush and Kenmore United Methodist Churches. At both of those churches he served the student ministries, and for the six years he was at the Rush Church he also provided leadership in worship and taught a variety of adult classes as well. 
Matthew earned his B.A. in Religion and Philosophy at Roberts Wesleyan College, and has done graduate work at Asbury Theological Seminary (Wilmore, KY) and received his Master of Divinity degree from Northeastern Seminary (Rochester, NY).
Matthew has been married to his wife Angie for over 12 years, and have an infant son, Elias. Angie works at Element K as an instructional designer.  They also share the parsonage with Molly, one of the softest dogs you will ever meet.
In addition to reading what Angie likes to refer to as “church geek” books, Matthew enjoys good coffee, running, being outdoors, movies at the Little Theater, cooking, playing guitar, and having his heart broken by the Mets.
 
Music Director, Joe Blackburn
Joe has been on staff at HFUMC for years and shares his warm personality and passion for music with the congregation.  A graduate of the Eastman School of Music, Joe directs all aspects of the music program for Sunday morning.  When not at the church, Joe teaches private piano lessons, plays often at the Eastman House, and is also a professional photographer. 
 
Secretary, Valarie Vogt
A proud mom of four, Valarie works part-time at the church doing much of the administrative work including our weekly bulletins and newsletter.
